I just wanted to give you a heads up that you’re going to find some of the music and other videos on this blog contains swearing and other mildly offensive material. The writing is all clean though. Why would I, as a Christian, post verbally offensive videos and songs? Well, what I’m doing with this blog is looking at our culture (especially music, movies and comedy) and thinking a little deeper about it. If I avoided the stuff that has swearing in it then I would miss a lot of the ‘good’ stuff. By good I mean the interesting stuff to think about. So if it offends you then I’m sorry but I wanted to at least warn you it’s there.

As a Christian and a philosophy student I realize the importance of language. I know that swearing can be quite offensive. However, sometimes swearing is nothing more than filler. We need to be careful to distinguish between the two. Like I say, I’d hate to ignore fellow humans just because they have a dirty mouth.

Christians are notorious for getting offended about everything. Some things should offend us, but every once in a while we need to let things slide for the sake of hearing somebody out instead of ignoring them. I’ve had several factory jobs in my life and swearing seems to be a normal part of speech in factories. I’m pretty much immune to it. I’m working on a post that will investigate swearing on a deeper level. One of the things that I want to think about is what actually makes swearing bad? In this way, I think we can better react to it. Until then, I hope you enjoy what I’ve posted and can get past the occasional bad word.
